new website online!

trrrrratatata here it is…. my brand new website. After a few designs i decided to strip it all down and only keep the most essential elements. So here it is, a nice clean place to kick my work in. Ladies and gentlemen, we got him…

Finally the beautiful Canon 5d mark II is a part of my equipment!
A few months ago i saw some videofootage shot on this digital photo camera and i immediately knew a was gonna buy this camera some day! Today is that day and a lot of doors are opening to me.

With the capability of shooting full HD in very low light situation using the beautiful photo-lenses and a very big 35mm sensor it’s definitely a winner.

Finally the shallow depth of field filmlook is achievable and euhm yeah you can also make some pictures with it :)

Free underwater footage

I went to Berlin for a few days and shot some footage of underwater dust in a zoo. I thought it will bu usefull someday to give cg scenes a little bit movement and imperfection. Cause of the “let’s make cool things together” attitude in the motion graphic community I decided to build a little give-away package witch you can download here. The video below is a preview/test to see how the footage will work in After effects. I think it works pretty well.

My settings in AE:
1. Footage desaturated
2. Played with levels (clipping the blacks will kill some noise but looses detail)
3. Footage layer to “screen” mode (lighten or overlay will also work)
4. Simple 4 point gradient background

New office!

I recently sign the contract for this beautifull office in the centre of Utrecht. It’s a old school building with in every ward a creative company. After a few weeks of painting and renovation it’s a wonderfull place to be and work. If you’re nearby, don’t hesitate to come in and have some coffee :)

I’ve also planned the realization of a basic (green screen) filming studio in 2010. So stay tuned for even more possibilities in the near future!

Postproduction MTV fillers

Here are some “before and after” pictures of the postproduction process for the MTV shorts i did. The trees that i had to rebuild in the first movie were actually photoshopped pictures i made on the shooting day. Then with some precisely camera tracking and 3d positioning i could complete the picture.

On the filming day of the second movie (stairs) we were a bit in a rush cause of the short amount of daylight time. So the “M” is far from perfect but fortunately the papers offered a lot of track points were i could accurately hang my photoshopped piece of papers on :)
